Access control and management systems

The access control and management system (ACS) is electromechanical equipment and software complex designed to identify visitors and regulate access to a protected facility. ACS is an important element of the overall security management system.

ACS basic functions are:

  • protection against unauthorized entry;
  • admission to some premises restriction;
  • working time control.

PRUS Security installs, configures and maintains any ACS modifications for various objects in Kyiv and Kyiv region.

ACS categories

ACS can be divided into 2 main categories:

  • Standalone (autonomous) – they do not network, do not connect to a computer. Information is either stored on the device or not stored at all. Their advantages: inexpensive, quite simple, do not need additional wiring. Disadvantages: there is no possibility to control the coming/leaving time, to create reports, to analyze data, to manage through another device.
  • Network - connected to a computer where all information transmits. Additional modules are provided for large organizations and objects with a big traffic. Due to a variety of software applications, such systems process and organize massive information amounts.

Effective organizational measures can be arranged using network systems:

  • introduce replacement admission schemes for different levels of access persons to any organization area, replace them if necessary;
  • work with identification codes (create/delete) to many access points or for many visitors;
  • review previously recorded data if their further exploring is necessary;
  • labor discipline control (arrival and leaving time);
  • ACS and security system elements integration.

The network system allows one-point observation of all controlled area.

Access control and management system package

ACS is not a monolithic device capable to perform necessary functions, but some combination of several devises. It is a system of various combined equipment.

Basic ACS components:

  • checkpoint (point of entry) - a place equipped with electromechanical devices such as electric locks, gates, turnstiles that can prevent unauthorized persons entry;
  • identifier - a key giving the owner rights to access the territory: card, key fob, fingerprint, retinal scan;
  • controller - a device that analyzes a reader’s personal code and determines whether access is granted or denied;
  • reader – a device that defines the personal code come from the ID and sends it to the controller.

Access control systems can be supplemented with a variety of equipment and software applications, which will significantly expand the functionality.

If the equipment and settings allow verification by photo, when a visitor passes the control point, a security officer can display a photo of the person behind whom the identifier is recorded in the system and compare it with the passing visitor. This makes it difficult for someone with a wrong card to enter the guarded area.

When a facility with a full security system does not justify the cost - ACS can prevent many problems.

ACS is security and control of the situation at an affordable price.
