Video surveillance systems

The implementation of video surveillance is a fairly common initiative that significantly enhances the security level of a facility. In many cases, even the mere presence of cameras can stop a criminal from committing illegal acts as the perceived risk of identification and legal consequences increases. In this regard, dummy cameras are sometimes installed as a form of psychological pressure.

An offender captured on video can often be identified or have their subsequent movements traced. Surveillance recordings frequently serve as substantial evidence of an individual’s involvement in a crime.

Installation of systems of any level of complexity

Video surveillance systems vary widely and can consist of a different number of elements. First of all, it depends on the budget of the customer and the size of the protected area. In other words, in the stairwell near the apartment a single camera will be enough, whereas a private house or commercial property will require a more comprehensive approach.

Placed at key points throughout the perimeter—both outside and inside the property—surveillance devices play a vital role in detecting and preventing potential threats. There are also models with built-in motion sensors, adjustable aperture for different levels of illumination, varifocal lens to change the viewing angle and focus on the desired object.

For home and street

Video surveillance systems can be divided into two main types – for outdoor use and for indoor use. Tracking can be both hidden and conventional. The requirements for these two types of devices are correspondingly different.

  • Outdoor cameras. Outdoor models typically feature vandal-proof and weather-resistant housing, ensuring they are not affected by changing weather conditions and are harder to disable. Also, it is highly recommended that the outdoor camera has a varifocal lens, a motion sensor and an auto-adjustable aperture. All devices can then be integrated into a unified system, allowing either the homeowner or a professional security specialist to monitor the property.
  • Indoor cameras. The requirements for such models are usually less strict. If a vandal-resistant housing can be as relevant as a motion sensor, then an adjustable aperture and a varifocal lens are not necessary conditions when it comes to indoor use. A black and white night mode will suffice.

It is important to understand that each situation requires a tailored approach. For example, the indoor system is considered to be less demanding. However, when it comes to organizing video surveillance at a commercial facility, for example, in a production workshop that has a large area, it is better to install equipment comparable to outdoor cameras.

Another important factor is the presence of an infrared filter and the high parameters of the CCD matrix. These features significantly improve image quality, which is critical when monitoring distant areas, low-light conditions, or situations where direct sunlight may affect the camera. High-quality imaging ensures that intruders can be recognized accurately.

Experienced Specialists

Despite all the above, it is important to remember that purchasing one or even several surveillance devices alone does not guarantee complete security. Proper installation, integration into a unified system, and correct configuration are required to create a fully functional surveillance network. Many people encounter difficulties at the setup stage, which often necessitates professional assistance.
